On Thursday, June 24, 2010, City Council passed a resolution to endorse The CreateAustin Cultural Master Plan.
CreateAustin is a community cultural planning process that will identify Austin’s creative assets and challenges, define goals, and establish recommendations to invigorate Austin’s “culture of creativity.” This public/private collaboration will define specific strategies for community-wide implementation in order to sustain Austin as a magnet for arts, culture, and creativity.
The top 2 recommendations of the plan are:
- Establish a CreateAustin leadership task Force to assist in plan implementation
- Form a community-based Creative Alliance to provide essential services to individuals and organizations
With the help of the CreateAustin Leadership Task Force and board and staff of the longstanding community-based organization formerly known as Austin Circle of Theaters, and all of the community members who participated in this process, The Greater Austin Creative Alliance is now ready to lead this charge.

Establishing a Creative Alliance for organizations and individuals across all disciplines and sectors — for profit and nonprofit — was one of the top three recommendations of our city’s recently completed CreateAustin cultural planning process.
You can be a part of this exciting endeavor by joining as a Creative Alliance Founding Member now through December 31, 2010 — and have the benefit of being recognized on our office walls, and anywhere else that we can find to show you off, as having given your support during this critical transition period indefinitely.
